In April 2003 Christies in New York held the auction Fine 19th Century European Art, which included the work Boats on a Norwegian Fjord by Adelsteen Normann. The »bidding war« ended at USD 38,240.00 (€ 31,140.07), 27% above the upper estimate. With this result, Boats on a Norwegian Fjord is even the most expensive work of art by Adelsteen Normann that we have observed at auctions so far.
