Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Young Man Playing The Flute By Candelight by Adam de Coster was sold in the Old Masters Day Sale auction at Sothebys in London in December 2019. The price achieved of GBP 60,000.00 (€ 70,912.98) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Adam de Coster achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Young Woman Holding A Distaff Before A Lit Candle in January 2017 with an auction result of USD 4,850,000.00 (€ 4,493,236.98).
