In November last year Bonhams in London held the auction Modern and Contemporary Middle Eastern Art including Baghdadiyat Part IIIThe Finale, which included the work The Shell Man by Abdul Hadi El-Gazzar. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 9,562.50 (€ 11,080.75), 59% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Abdul Hadi El-Gazzar achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Construction Of The Suez Canal in March 2014 with an auction result of USD 1,023,750.00 (€ 743,086.30).
