Exploring the Unpredictable: Ink on Paper

Working with ink on paper allows me to embrace the beauty of unpredictability and the captivating dance between water and ink. The medium itself demands a delicate balance of manipulating water's movement while patiently awaiting its slow drying process. In this realm, I find myself constantly engaged, ever watchful to ensure that no detail goes unnoticed, and that each brush stroke contributes to the unfolding composition. I like to refer to this process as "moving water."

The allure of ink lies in its unique chemistry and the intriguing interplay between different ink types. Not all inks harmonize, and this unpredictability is precisely what draws me to this medium. Just when I believe I can anticipate an outcome, ink reveals its enigmatic nature, surprising me with uncharted territories. Unlike painting, mistakes cannot be easily concealed, urging me to approach each brush stroke with purposeful intention.

Within the method of using ink on paper, I allow the creative process to unfold naturally, unfettered by preconceived notions of the final outcome. This intuitive approach to form, often referred to as "organic abstraction," allows my work to take on a non-objective nature, shaped by my deep-rooted fascination with color, organic forms, and design elements. Biomorphic shapes, reminiscent of nature's intricate patterns, serve as the visual language through which I express my artistic vision.

The influences in my life have been instrumental in shaping the focus of my work. Drawing inspiration from art, music, nature, my heritage, and my extensive travels and adventures across the globe, I seek to infuse my creations with the essence of my experiences. Similar to the natural world, where shapes evolve and manifest in figurative ways, my own shapes emerge and evolve, reflecting the tapestry of my interests and passions.

For me, the creative process transcends the mere act of art-making; it is a deeply personal journey of self-expression. Each stroke and shape becomes a vessel through which I communicate my story, inviting viewers to delve into their own interpretations and connections.

The medium's unpredictable nature, coupled with my intuitive approach to form, enables me to embark on a creative odyssey, exploring the boundless possibilities and expressing the essence of who I am.
