BIOGRAPHY
Nina Temple’s lifelong involvement in the arts has shaped her creative journey in profound ways. Raised in a household where music and artistic expression were revered, Nina’s father, a composer, and her mother who was a child prodigy violinist, instilled in her a deep appreciation for the transformative power of the arts. Growing up in Italy, Canada, Germany, and the USA she spent countless hours immersed in museums, galleries, and cultural events, attending music forums, lectures, and concerts, which left an indelible mark on her artistic sensibilities.
While Nina initially pursued her own musical path, playing the violin for many years, her passion for the visual arts lead her towards a new creative venture that would forever captivate her spirit. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Nina currently resides in Carmel Valley, California. She honed her skills at the University of Southern Mississippi taking part in master classes with Elaine de Kooning and was privileged to participate in a study abroad program in Cortona, Italy. There she immersed herself in the country's rich artistic heritage for four transformative months, under the guidance of select faculty and staff from the University of Georgia.
Following her artistic education, Nina embarked on a decade-long artistic journey, exhibiting her works in diverse locations across the globe, with a particular focus on Berlin, Germany, where she resided for three years. These experiences broadened her horizons, teaching her to take risk in her work and nurtured her passion for details, color, and design. Harnessing her creative vision, Nina ventured into the realm of graphic and web design, establishing Nina Temple Design, which flourished with two studios situated in Monterey, California, and Annapolis, Maryland. Over 26 years, she worked on a national scale, collaborating with clients from various industries, while consistently infusing her projects with her fine art skills.
In 2015, driven by an innate desire to return to her fine art roots, Nina made the decision to close her commercial studio doors and devote herself entirely to her true artistic calling—the fine arts. Since then, her captivating works on paper and sculptural creations have been showcased in both solo and group exhibitions throughout the world, as well as prominent Art Fairs and the following museums: Triton Museum of Art, Marin Museum of Contemporary Art, Monterey Museum of Art, Oceanside Museum of Art, NUMU - Los Gatos Museum of Art, San Luis Obispo Museum of Art, and Biloxi Museum of Art. Passionate about fostering artistic camaraderie and supporting the arts, Nina has actively participated in group collaborations, engaging in artist talks, workshops for young children, and teaching and lecturing engagements at various colleges and universities. Notably, her sculpture titled "Doby" has found its permanent place of honor at the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, inspiring and uplifting all who encounter it.
Nina Temple’s artistic journey has been a testament to her unwavering passion for the arts, fueled by a childhood immersed in creative expression. Her path reflects a profound dedication to her craft, as well as an enduring commitment to sharing the transformative power of art with others.
