This artwork by Zarina achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in September this year. In the South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art auction, the work Language; Border (from Home is a Foreign Place) sold for USD 27,720.00 (€ 26,190.48) - well above the upper estimate of USD 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Zarina achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tasbih (Gold) in March last year with an auction result of USD 365,400.00 (€ 329,396.92).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Zarina erzielte im September diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art wurde die Arbeit Language; Border (from Home is a Foreign Place) für USD 27.720,00 (€ 26.190,48) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 12.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Zarina erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Tasbih (Gold) im März letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 365.400,00 (€ 329.396,92).
