Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Epitaph Karl Amadeus Hartmann by Zao Wou-Ki was sold in the Modern Discoveries | Rare & Limited auction at Sothebys in Hong Kong in July last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 10,000.00 – 20,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 11,970.00 (€ 1,493.61) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Zao Wou-Ki achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 29.09.64. in May last year with an auction result of HKD 278,000,000.00 (€ 33,004,566.21).
