Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Two Monks and Calligraphy by Yamaoka Tesshu was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2003. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 700.00 – 900.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 717.00 (€ 1,030.37) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Yamaoka Tesshu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Zen Calligraphy in March 2001 with an auction result of USD 15,275.00 (€ 17,369.80).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Two Monks and Calligraphy von Yamaoka Tesshu kam im Juni 2003 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 700,00 – 900,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 717,00 (€ 1.030,37) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Yamaoka Tesshu erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Zen Calligraphy im März 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 15.275,00 (€ 17.369,80).
