Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Raining At Twilight by Xing Baozhuang was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in April 2001, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 35,000.00 – 45,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 23,500.00 (€ 3,394.97). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Xing Baozhuang - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Drinking Beside The River, which sold at auction in November 2005 for HKD 120,000.00 (€ 13,129.77).
