Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Longxu Island by Wu Guanzhong was worth HKD 4,788,000.00 (€ 573,772.29) to a buyer in December last year. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 1,500,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wu Guanzhong achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Zhou Village in April 2016 with an auction result of HKD 236,000,000.00 (€ 26,588,934.53).
