This artwork by William Watt Milne achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March 2001. In the BRITISH AND VICTORIAN PAINTINGS, INCLUDING SCOTTISH PICTURES auction, the work Unloading the catch, East Coast Fife sold for GBP 3,407.50 (€ 5,498.34) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by William Watt Milne; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A Shepherdess with her flock sold at auction in November 2001 with the realized price of GBP 6,462.50 (€ 10,283.87).
