Auction result misses estimated price range
In June 2008 a collector was able to acquire the work A Wooded Landscape With Cattle Grazing by William Tomkins for USD 4,688.00 (€ 2,976.89). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master & 19th Century European Art at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Tomkins achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A View of Boldreview Lodge With A Hunting Party, Cattle, Horses, Deer And Other Figures In The Foreground, The New Forest Beyond in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 52,800.00 (€ 77,949.37).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Juni 2008 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit A Wooded Landscape With Cattle Grazing von William Tomkins für USD 4.688,00 (€ 2.976,89) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Old Master & 19th Century European Art bei Sothebys in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Tomkins erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A View of Boldreview Lodge With A Hunting Party, Cattle, Horses, Deer And Other Figures In The Foreground, The New Forest Beyond im Mai 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 52.800,00 (€ 77.949,37).
