In November 2007 Christies in New York held the auction Sporting And Wildlife Art Including The Collection Of Doug And Ellen Miller, which included the work Breaking Cover, Grizzly Bear by Willem Sternberg De Beer. The price achieved of USD 6,250.00 (€ 4,255.17) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 5,000.00 – 8,000.00. Other works by Willem Sternberg De Beer have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in November 2007 the work Snow Leopard in the Himalayas was auctioned for USD 10,625.00 (€ 7,233.80).
