Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by William Sadler achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in May 2001. In the THE IRISH SALE auction, the work View of Dublin Bay with Kingstown Harbour and the Hill of Howth in the background (Martello tower to the right showing gun emplacement); View in Co. Wicklow with elegant figures on a path beside a villa, the big Sugar Loaf beyond sold for GBP 12,337.50 (€ 20,684.10) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Sadler - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Donnybrook Fair, which sold at auction in November 2018 for GBP 68,750.00 (€ 77,547.91).

Für andere Arbeiten von William Sadler mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Donnybrook Fair beobachtet, die im November 2018 für GBP 68.750,00 (€ 77.547,91) versteigert wurde.
