Despite a disappointment, a good price for William R. Davis

In July 2006 a collector was able to acquire the work Two schooners off Hyannisport by William R. Davis for USD 9,600.00 (€ 7,521.15). This price was achieved in the auction Maritime at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 12,000.00 set by the auction house. Despite this disappointing result, Two schooners off Hyannisport is the most expensive artwork by William R. Davis that we have observed at auction so far.
