In the Property From Encombe, Dorset & La Chasse, Jersey auction, the work Portrait of a lady, seated three-quarter-length, reading a book changed hands for GBP 3,600.00 (€ 5,431.57) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Oliver - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Grand Canal, Venice, which sold at auction in November 2000 for GBP 7,637.50 (€ 12,483.19).
