In June 2002 Christies in London held the auction Sporting Art and Dogs, which included the work A lady on a hunter in an extensive landscape by William Norman Gaunt. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,115.00 (€ 3,271.43) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, A lady on a hunter in an extensive landscape is the most expensive artwork by William Norman Gaunt that we have observed at auctions so far.
