In November 2003 Christies in London held the auction MARITIME AND NAVAL BATTLES, which included the work Crowded gondolas on the Lagoon, Venice by William Knox. The price achieved of GBP 822.50 (€ 1,180.71) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 700.00 – 900.00. Other works by William Knox have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in November 2000 the work Fishing vessels off Venice was auctioned for GBP 763.75 (€ 1,248.32).
