Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2011 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Art, which included the work Fishing boats drying their sails at the end of the day by William Joseph Julius Caesar Bond. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,210.34) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Joseph Julius Caesar Bond - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A boat entering the Mersey, which sold at auction in May 2005 for GBP 7,200.00 (€ 10,629.46).
