In July 2007 a collector was able to acquire the work The three-masted ship Lucile of Rockland by William Howard Yorke for USD 15,600.00 (€ 11,377.73). This price was achieved in the auction Maritime at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00 set by the auction house. Other works by William Howard Yorke have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in July 2003 by the work The American clipper Caravan rendering assistance to a British full-rigger in mid-Atlantic at USD 23,900.00 (€ 19,415.11).
