A top price for William Pike - as previously expected
In March 2006 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian Pictures, which included the work Metre, Near Venice by William Pike. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 840.00 (€ 1,203.57) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Metre, Near Venice is the most expensive artwork by William Pike that we have observed at auctions so far.

Im März 2006 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Victorian Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Metre, Near Venice von William Pike zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 840,00 (€ 1.203,57) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Metre, Near Venice das teuerste Kunstwerk von William Pike, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
