In November 2002 Christies in London held the auction VICTORIAN PICTURES, which included the work Courting the seamstress by William Henry Midwood. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 13,742.50 (€ 21,520.05), 37% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Henry Midwood - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Parting Of Burns And His Highland Mary, which sold at auction in August 2008 for GBP 43,250.00 (€ 53,631.30).

Im November 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion VICTORIAN PICTURES durch, in der auch die Arbeit Courting the seamstress von William Henry Midwood zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 13.742,50 (€ 21.520,05) und damit 37% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von William Henry Midwood mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Parting Of Burns And His Highland Mary beobachtet, die im August 2008 für GBP 43.250,00 (€ 53.631,30) versteigert wurde.
