Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2013 Christies in London held the auction Victorian, British and Impressionist Art, which included the work The Doge'S Palace And The Campanile Di San Marco, Viewed From The Grand Canal by William Henry Haines. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 13,130.76) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Henry Haines - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Gondolas before the Campo san Zanipolo, Venice, which sold at auction in December 2010 for GBP 25,000.00 (€ 28,999.92).
