In May 2002 Christies in Melbourne held the auction AUSTRALIAN AND INTERNATIONAL PAINTINGS, which included the work Petrouchka - A Street Dancer by William Henry Archibald Constable. The price achieved of AUD 1,175.00 (€ 712.12) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Petrouchka - A Street Dancer is the most expensive artwork by William Henry Archibald Constable that we have observed at auctions so far.
