In February 2007 Christies in London held the auction British & Continental Watercolours, which included the work Raven Crag, Yewdale, Coniston (illustrated); and A woodland path by William Gershom Collingwood. The result of GBP 600.00 (€ 889.48) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Gershom Collingwood - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mont Blanc; The Matterhorn, which sold at auction in September 2007 for GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,792.41).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Februar 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion British & Continental Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit Raven Crag, Yewdale, Coniston (illustrated); and A woodland path von William Gershom Collingwood zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 600,00 (€ 889,48) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 600,00 – 800,00. Für andere Arbeiten von William Gershom Collingwood mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Mont Blanc; The Matterhorn beobachtet, die im September 2007 für GBP 1.250,00 (€ 1.792,41) versteigert wurde.
