This artwork by William Gear achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in November 2020. In the Modern & Post-War British Art auction, the work Landscape Element sold for GBP 10,710.00 (€ 11,955.97) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Gear - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Summer afternoon, which sold at auction in June 2015 for GBP 20,000.00 (€ 28,199.75).

Dieses Kunstwerk von William Gear erzielte im November 2020 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern & Post-War British Art wurde die Arbeit Landscape Element für GBP 10.710,00 (€ 11.955,97) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 6.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von William Gear mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Summer afternoon beobachtet, die im Juni 2015 für GBP 20.000,00 (€ 28.199,75) versteigert wurde.
