In March 2004 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours, which included the work Distant thoughts by William Anstey Dolland. It changed hands for a price of GBP 657.25 (€ 983.84) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00. Other works by William Anstey Dolland have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in November 2019 the work Matrona Superba was auctioned for GBP 1,530.00 (€ 1,796.59).
