Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by William Alfred Delamotte could be acquired at Christies in London in October last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Churchill to Eden: The Collection of the Earl and Countess of Avon auction, the work The North Front Of Blenheim Palace And Blenheim Bridge, Seen From Across The Lake And Five Views Of Wytham Abbey changed hands for GBP 1,008.00 (€ 1,174.31) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Alfred Delamotte - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Vue de Sallanches avec le Clocher, le Mont-Blanc au fond, which sold at auction in December 2002 for EUR 2,585.00.
