Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The encounter by Willem Vaarzon Morel was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in May 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 1,875.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willem Vaarzon Morel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Kermis in May 2013 with an auction result of EUR 30,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The encounter von Willem Vaarzon Morel im Mai 2010 bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 1.875,00 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Willem Vaarzon Morel erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Kermis im Mai 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 30.000,00.
