This artwork by Willard Bramwell Jackson achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in July 2002. In the Maritime auction, the work Agatha sailing downwind sold for USD 3,346.00 (€ 3,415.68) - well above the upper estimate of USD 1,500.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Willard Bramwell Jackson; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Yacht race off marblehead sold at auction in July 2002 with the realized price of USD 3,824.00 (€ 3,903.63).
