When the work Reclining Harem Woman by Wilhelm Gail was auctioned at Christies in New York in February 2015, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 3,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at USD 12,500.00 (€ 11,163.70). This high result makes Reclining Harem Woman the most expensive artwork by Wilhelm Gail that we have observed at auctions so far.
