In July 2003 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH ART ON PAPER INCLUDING ORIGINAL BOOK ILLUSTRATIONS, which included the work Red House Farm, Surrey by Wilfred Williams Ball. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 763.75 (€ 998.27), 53% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Wilfred Williams Ball have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work London Bells, the Towers; and Westminster Abbey in September 2001 with an auction result of GBP 2,585.00 (€ 4,173.67).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 53 % übertroffen
Im Juli 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion BRITISH ART ON PAPER INCLUDING ORIGINAL BOOK ILLUSTRATIONS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Red House Farm, Surrey von Wilfred Williams Ball zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 763,75 (€ 998,27) und damit 53% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Wilfred Williams Ball auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit London Bells, the Towers; and Westminster Abbey im September 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.585,00 (€ 4.173,67).
