A top price for Wang Ziwu - as previously expected
The work Li Bai and Chao Heng by Wang Ziwu was sold in the Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings auction at Christies in Cologne in May this year. The price achieved of HKD 3,150,000.00 (€ 377,562.42) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as HKD 2,200,000.00 – 4,000,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Li Bai and Chao Heng is the most expensive artwork by Wang Ziwu that we have observed at auctions so far.

Die Arbeit Li Bai and Chao Heng von Wang Ziwu wurde im Mai diesen Jahres in der Auktion Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings bei Christies in Köln versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von HKD 3.150.000,00 (€ 377.562,42) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit HKD 2.200.000,00 – 4.000.000,00 angegeben worden. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Li Bai and Chao Heng das teuerste Kunstwerk von Wang Ziwu, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
