Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
The work Magpie and Pomegranates by Wang Weilie was worth HKD 125,000.00 (€ 12,350.41) to a buyer in November 2010. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 30,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Wang Weilie - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Peonies and Mandarin Ducks, which sold at auction in October 2021 for HKD 327,600.00 (€ 36,440.96).
