Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2003 Christies in London held the auction At Home - British and Continental Pictures & Works on Paper, which included the work Edwin and Angelina by Walter Stephens Lethbridge. The price achieved of GBP 470.00 (€ 612.38) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 400.00 – 600.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Walter Stephens Lethbridge - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Four children from the Hardinge family: Sarah, facing right in dotted white muslin dress, her sister Violet facing left and identically dressed, both with flowing long brown hair, their brother Edward facing left in double-breasted blue coat with whi, which sold at auction in November 2001 for GBP 1,410.00 (€
