Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Old Friends by Walter Dendy Sadler was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,375.00 (€ 3,922.01). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Walter Dendy Sadler achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work British for He’S A Jolly Good Fellow And So Say All Of Us in November 2016 with an auction result of USD 47,500.00 (€ 44,904.52).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Old Friends von Walter Dendy Sadler im Oktober 2019 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 4.375,00 (€ 3.922,01) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Walter Dendy Sadler erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit British for He’S A Jolly Good Fellow And So Say All Of Us im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 47.500,00 (€ 44.904,52).
