Auction result misses estimated price range
In May 2017 a collector was able to acquire this work without title by Walter Whall Battiss for GBP 11,875.00 (€ 13,638.92). This price was achieved in the auction Modern and Contemporary African Art at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Walter Whall Battiss - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Multiple Mother and Child, which sold at auction in October 2021 for GBP 31,500.00 (€ 37,318.99).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Mai 2017 konnte ein Sammler diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Walter Whall Battiss für GBP 11.875,00 (€ 13.638,92) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Modern and Contemporary African Art bei Sothebys in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 15.000,00 – 20.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Walter Whall Battiss mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Multiple Mother and Child beobachtet, die im Oktober 2021 für GBP 31.500,00 (€ 37.318,99) versteigert wurde.
