Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Wael Shawky achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in March last year. In the 20th Century Art / Middle East auction, the work Dictums: Manqia I sold for GBP 12,600.00 (€ 14,938.72) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Wael Shawky - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Cave: Amsterdam, which sold at auction in April 2015 for USD 56,250.00 (€ 50,394.19).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Wael Shawky erzielte im März letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th Century Art / Middle East wurde die Arbeit Dictums: Manqia I für GBP 12.600,00 (€ 14.938,72) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 6.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Wael Shawky mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Cave: Amsterdam beobachtet, die im April 2015 für USD 56.250,00 (€ 50.394,19) versteigert wurde.
