In October 2020 Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction California and Western Art40th Anniversary Auction, which included the work Golden Gate at Sunset by Virgil Williams. Here, the upper estimate of USD 30,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 31,325.00 (€ 26,895.34). With this result, Golden Gate at Sunset is even the most expensive work of art by Virgil Williams that we have observed at auctions so far.
