Commentaire : Construite au sein du parc de Saint-Cloud par Napoléon, la Lanterne de Demosthène, tour inspirée du monument à Lysicrate à Athènes, signalait lorsqu'elle était allumée la présence de l'empereur à Saint-Cloud. Elle fut détruite pendant la guerre de 1870.

Here, the upper estimate of EUR 700.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for EUR 715.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Victor de Grailly achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A View Of The Hudson From West Point in March 2007 with an auction result of USD 24,000.00 (€ 17,945.27).

Die Arbeit Vue Du Pont De Sèvres, Avec La Lanterne De Demosthène À L'Arrière-Plan von Victor de Grailly wurde im Februar 2019 in der Auktion Old Master & 19th Century Art bei Artcurial in Paris versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von EUR 700,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für EUR 715,00 einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Victor de Grailly erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A View Of The Hudson From West Point im März 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 24.000,00 (€ 17.945,27).
