This artwork by Vasili Petrovich Vereshchagin achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2000. In the RUSSIAN PAINTINGS AND WORKS OF ART auction, the work Fortified Village in the Caucasian Mountains in Winter sold for GBP 10,575.00 (€ 16,845.88) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Vasili Petrovich Vereshchagin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Of A Man In A Gold Embroidered Red Shirt, which sold at auction in November 2004 for GBP 25,095.00 (€ 36,099.02).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Vasili Petrovich Vereshchagin erzielte im Dezember 2000 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion RUSSIAN PAINTINGS AND WORKS OF ART wurde die Arbeit Fortified Village in the Caucasian Mountains in Winter für GBP 10.575,00 (€ 16.845,88) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 5.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Vasili Petrovich Vereshchagin mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait Of A Man In A Gold Embroidered Red Shirt beobachtet, die im November 2004 für GBP 25.095,00 (€ 36.099,02) versteigert wurde.
