This artwork by Utagawa Hiroshige achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in September 2021. In the Important Japanese Art auction, the work Owari, Tsushima, Tenno Matsuri (Owari Province: Tenno Festival At Tsushima) sold for USD 2,750.00 (€ 2,375.40) - well above the upper estimate of USD 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Utagawa Hiroshige achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tokaido gojusan tsugi no uchi (The fifty-three stations of the Tokaido) in September 2002 with an auction result of USD 207,500.00 (€ 210,041.50).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 83 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Utagawa Hiroshige erzielte im September 2021 bei Christies einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Important Japanese Art wurde die Arbeit Owari, Tsushima, Tenno Matsuri (Owari Province: Tenno Festival At Tsushima) für USD 2.750,00 (€ 2.375,40) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 1.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Utagawa Hiroshige erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Tokaido gojusan tsugi no uchi (The fifty-three stations of the Tokaido) im September 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 207.500,00 (€ 210.041,50).
