Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In March 2003 Christies in New York held the auction AN IMPORTANT COLLECTION OF JAPANESE PRINTS, which included the work Furyu Genji yoru no niwa (Elegant Genji: a garden at night) by Utagawa Hiroshige. Here, the upper estimate of USD 3,500.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 3,585.00 (€ 3,288.99). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Utagawa Hiroshige achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tokaido gojusan tsugi no uchi (The fifty-three stations of the Tokaido) in September 2002 with an auction result of USD 207,500.00 (€ 210,041.50).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im März 2003 führte Christies in New York die Auktion AN IMPORTANT COLLECTION OF JAPANESE PRINTS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Furyu Genji yoru no niwa (Elegant Genji: a garden at night) von Utagawa Hiroshige zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 3.500,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 3.585,00 (€ 3.288,99) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Utagawa Hiroshige erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Tokaido gojusan tsugi no uchi (The fifty-three stations of the Tokaido) im September 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 207.500,00 (€ 210.041,50).
