Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2015 Christies in London held the auction Aesthetic Intuition: Collecting Japanese Art in Post-War London, which included the work Driving Rain At Shono (Shono - Hakuu) by Utagawa Hiroshige. The price achieved of GBP 25,000.00 (€ 35,608.79) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by Utagawa Hiroshige have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Tokaido gojusan tsugi no uchi (The fifty-three stations of the Tokaido) in September 2002 with an auction result of USD 207,500.00 (€ 210,041.50).
