Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Trần Văn Thọ could be acquired at Sothebys in Hong Kong in April 2014 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Paintings auction, the work Nu Devant La Source (Nude Infront Of A Waterspring) changed hands for HKD 31,250.00 (€ 2,906.45) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of HKD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Trần Văn Thọ achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La Couturière (Lady In Couture) in April 2019 with an auction result of HKD 275,000.00 (€ 31,303.01).
