Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Timothy Franklin Ross Thompson could be acquired at Christies in London in May 2012 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Maritime Art auction, the work Boston Lighthouse; and Appledore Regatta, Devon (both illustrated) changed hands for GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,557.45) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. Admittedly, works by Timothy Franklin Ross Thompson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The opium trader Speculation, the P. & O. steamer Canton, the U.S. clipper Sea Serpent and Perry's U.S. Squadron lying off Hong Kong in November 2011 with an auction result of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 13,133.22).
