Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Tie Bao achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2017. In the Fine Classical Chinese Paintings auction, the work Calligraphy After Wang Xizhi sold for HKD 50,000.00 (€ 5,503.09) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Tie Bao achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Calligraphy In Regular Script in March 2014 with an auction result of USD 81,250.00 (€ 58,975.10).
