This artwork by Thornton Dial achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in February last year. In the Outsider Art auction, the work Untitled (Woman and Fish) sold for USD 8,750.00 (€ 7,795.79) - well above the upper estimate of USD 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thornton Dial achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Trophies (Doll Factory) in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 225,000.00 (€ 260,983.86).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Thornton Dial erzielte im Februar letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Outsider Art wurde die Arbeit Untitled (Woman and Fish) für USD 8.750,00 (€ 7.795,79) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 5.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thornton Dial erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Trophies (Doll Factory) im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 225.000,00 (€ 260.983,86).
