In November 2016 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work Yellowstone Lake by Thomas Moran. The result of USD 300,000.00 (€ 283,607.49) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Moran achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Green River of Wyoming in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 17,737,000.00 (€ 11,399,100.26).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im November 2016 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Yellowstone Lake von Thomas Moran zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 300.000,00 (€ 283.607,49) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 300.000,00 – 500.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Moran erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Green River of Wyoming im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 17.737.000,00 (€ 11.399.100,26).
