Auction result misses estimated price range
In May last year a collector was able to acquire the work The Southern Arm of the Yellowstone Lake, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming Territory by Thomas Moran for USD 320,000.00 (€ 298,201.47). This price was achieved in the auction Stewards of the West: The Knobloch Collection at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 400,000.00 – 600,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Moran achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Green River of Wyoming in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 17,737,000.00 (€ 11,399,100.26).
